Let it be known that Republican nominee, Rick Santorum, is a complete and utter scumbag. He preaches “Made in America: Empowering American Families, Building Economic Freedom.” Yet, according to his tax returns, drove a German built Audi A6 for a solid 12,000 miles.
I’ve never been one to follow politics much and I haven’t really figured out whether or not I’m a Republican, Democrat, or Independent. Clearly, if there were a petrol head party, I’d be a member of the board. During the current campaign, however, I’ve been making it a point to listen and to tell you the truth, it has been quite entertaining. It’s also been very telling and a testament to why I don’t follow politics much. Sure politicians are known to be sleazy… obviously, since Newt Gingrich cheated on his wife on her deathbed. His name sounds like an ingredient in a witch’s stew anyway.
Audi A6
Downing on a candidate because they drive a piece of German engineering on the other hand, now that’s just silly. The said Audi offender was reported on his 2008 tax returns. Last time I checked, it’s now 2012 and the American auto industry wasn’t exactly something to be proud of a few years back. They were graveling at Uncle Sam’s door begging for handouts. Santorum has since “repented” and is now toting around in a brash Ram Truck, because he’s an American hard worker – at least that is his push.
I’d say if the worst dirt you can find on Santorum is that he drove an Audi for 12,000 miles, slap him into the white house. At least he has good taste in cars, even if he was following the business class crowd. If I had a choice between pleasing my voters in a Ford Focus and driving a Porsche, I’d be waving that whale tale in everyone’s faces and enjoying every minute of it.
Political debates are just pep rallies for people that like to watch grown men insult each other over vices that they had to look in High School yearbooks to find. If I were to run for president I’d be doomed to have my yearbook story on CNN. “Senator Davis is a hooligan and unfit to lead this nation. At 17, he was apprehended for reckless driving, traveling at speeds in excess of 85 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. THROW HIM OUT!”
Clearly, our nations leaders are in need of some help. The American auto industry has made a big comeback, as Chrysler would say, its just halftime. Even if it’s with the help of some foreign friends, I’d be proud to drive various models from the big three. Luckily for Rick Santorum, he can get a Volkswagen Passat right from Tennessee.
